At Faiferlick Martial Arts, we work with our students to develop an appreciation of the martial arts as a sport and an art form. We strive to help you achieve physical fitness through positive participation. Overall, you will improve your mental discipline and emotional well-being, learn Self Defense skills, and gain a sense of responsibility for oneself and others.
Traditional Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) for Self Defense at Faiferlick Martial Arts encompasses a comprehensive approach to personal safety and combat preparedness. It is a safe class to prevent injuries to students. Rooted in a rich history of diverse martial arts disciplines, it combines techniques from various traditional martial arts such as Taekwondo, Judo, Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Wrestling, Boxing, Aikido, Hapkido, Escrima and Weapons. The emphasis in traditional MMA is not just on offense but also on defense, teaching practitioners to react effectively to various threats and physical confrontations.
This holistic approach includes striking techniques for stand-up situations, throws and takedowns for close-quarters combat, and ground fighting for when situations escalate to the ground. Traditional MMA focuses not only on physical skills but also on mental and emotional aspects, imparting discipline, respect, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. It provides individuals with the tools and confidence needed to defend themselves effectively while promoting a sense of honor and responsibility in the process.
Our Instructors are Certified through ICAF & MATA. These classes are ranked and belts are earned as the student progresses in all areas of this class curriculum.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) for Sport & Competition is a dynamic and physically demanding combat sport that combines a wide range of martial disciplines. Participants in MMA training typically engage in striking techniques borrowed from boxing and kickboxing, allowing them to develop powerful punches and kicks. They also learn takedowns and throws derived from wrestling, judo, and jiu-jitsu, enabling them to control their opponents and take the fight to the ground when necessary. Moreover, grappling skills, particularly from jiu-jitsu, are essential for submissions and ground control. MATA guide students through a structured curriculum, which often includes rank progression and the attainment of belts as students master various aspects of the sport.
MMA places a strong emphasis on tactics, techniques, and strategy, requiring athletes to not only be physically fit but also mentally sharp. Instructors certified through reputable organizations like ICAF.
These classes provide a comprehensive and well-rounded approach to MMA, offering participants the opportunity to develop both their offensive and defensive skills while gaining a deep understanding of combat strategy. It’s an exciting and challenging sport that not only hones physical abilities but also fosters discipline, respect, and personal growth as individuals progress through the ranks and continually refine their skills.

The Empowerment Mindset
Beyond the physical techniques, Women Empowered also reinforces awareness principles, risk assessment, and verbal and psychological strategies a woman can use to set safe boundaries with others – even if the perpetrator is someone she knows. This is a 25-minute session. After the Cage Fitness Workout, then we will have kickboxing where will train with partners, teach safety and technique, and get some sparring in for those that want it. You don’t need to know martial arts and you don’t need prior workout experience.
The total body workout designed to cater to people at all levels of fitness. Cage Fitness™ is based on the structure of an MMA Main Event Fight. What this means is that Cage Fitness™ will
give you a total body workout in just 5 – 5-minute rounds. There are four key elements that are focused on: endurance, strength, power, and core. We can customize your workout by adjusting the intensity level to best suit your personal fitness goals. Each 5-minute round incorporates both aerobic and anaerobic exercises that will help you maximize burning fat while also gaining muscle.
This system of training is going to allow you to burn more calories while increasing your metabolism. Just one of the many benefits of our classes, the Afterburn effect happens when you take the body out of its comfort zone during an intense workout. By doing so, it will continue to burn additional calories the rest of the day to get back in balance. So, yes, even if you are sitting around after your workout, your body will continue to burn calories! Now smile and book your first class!
